A Candle for the Season

Once the weather starts to cool down and fall is in the air, our minds turn to fires, comfort food and family time at home.

A perfect accent to this season is naturally, a beautiful and well placed scented candle. Candles are such a beautiful addition to any space and can enhance the ordinary to the extraordinary. They are such an easy and inexpensive way to accessorize any room and make a wonderful and thoughtful gift that will provide hours of enjoyment and bliss.

Ranging in price from $.99 to upwards of $600 (No joke, check out Cire Trudon Candles) a candle is a gift that can fit any budget. However, just like anything, you get what you pay for...

For example, candles with beautiful, mixed fragrances are no different than that expensive bottle of perfume you might buy. Candles made with soy wax rather than paraffin wax burn cleaner, longer and more evenly. And candles in gorgeous glass containers, or beautiful and elaborate tins, can add that extra touch of elegance to your home decor.

My TOP 5 PICKS for candles this season...

For the Kitchen - Blood Orange Bergamot by Paddywax
For the Living Room - Baltic Amber by Voluspa
For the Bedroom - Vanilla, Orchid & Almond by Nest Fragrances

I also put a mini tin of Voluspa's French Bourbon Vanille in each of my bathrooms.

And to really highlight the season, my personal favorite is Pumpkin Chai by Nest Fragrances. HEAVENLY.

Candle Burning Tips:

- First, make sure your wick is standing up straight and trim it if it is longer than a 1/2 inch.
- Make sure that the entire top of the candle is melted each time you burn it, before blowing the candle out. This creates an even burn and will make your candle last longer.
- After you blow out your candle make sure to trim the top of the wick after each burn.
- As a final note, when your candle has burned down to the last 1/2 inch of wax, stick the container in the freezer for a while and the remaining wax will pop out easily, allowing you to reuse the container!

And remember, never leave a burning candle unattended and keep them away from children and pets.
