David Valera is a professional artist (photographer/filmmaker/cinematographer/cameraman) based in Los Angeles. David is represented by Getty Images and is a contributing photographer in the Getty Collection. His photographs have been featured in several books and magazines, including National Geographic Books, Daily Variety, Animation Magazine and Library School Journal. His clients include Yahoo.com, CW Television Network, Imagi Studios, Little Windows, Principals, Ogilvy & Mather and Simple Foodie. David's work is found in numerous private collections.
David's passion doesn't stop there. He is currently working on his 13th animated feature film for Dreamworks as a Final Layout Artist/Intersense Motion Capture Camera Operator. Some films David has worked on include Shrek 2, Madagascar, Kung Fu Panda and How To Train Your Dragon.
These are things David does well: Fall asleep anywhere anytime, make guacamole and french onion soup, bbq, multitask, figure out technical tasks to solve creative problems, embarrass himself, garden, snowboard, whip up a mocha latte, play a mean game of ping-pong, unknowingly pick the most expensive things.
David has worked at some cool places: He began his visual arts career at LA Weekly/LA Style, Los Angeles Magazine and Buzz magazine, then transitioned into computer animation at various studios, including Rough Draft, ACME Filmworks, Warner Bros., PDI, and (for the last decade or so) Dreamworks Feature Animation.
These are things David can't do at all: Laundry, sew a button, stay silent, whistle with his fingertips, gift-wrap, draw a perfect circle, stay angry, play the glockenspiel, decide what to say in this "About" page.
These are things David has done: Traveled the paths of Sultans and Kings in Turkey, held Lord Stanley's Cup, climbed to the top canopy of a Costa Rican cloud rainforest, hiked to the top of an active volcano, worked on the highest-grossing animated movie of all time.
These are things he wants to do: Fly a plane, travel into space, design a clever product everyone can use, take a year off and live abroad, levitate and perform magic tricks, study martial arts from a kung-fu master, surf Banzai Pipeline, write a screenplay, win the lottery to be a stay-at-home dad.
A native Angeleno, David grew up in Silver Lake, spent some time in Pasadena and now resides with his wife Frances (www.little-windows.com) and two children in La Crescenta.
