Drew's Voice Foundation Tackles Bullying at Wrestling Match

The Ferraro family formed Drew's Voice--an organization working to prevent bullying in local schools--following the suicide of Drew Ferraro, 15. His parents say that he was bullied at CVHS and now work to educate people about ending bullying.

Bullying and wrestling might sound like a uncanny combination, but for Drew Ferraro's cousin, Jake Alexander, it's a passion and a way to tell Drew's story.  Family and friends gathered at an Empire Wrestling Federation fundraiser for the Drew's Voice Foundation in San Bernardino Saturday.  The professional wrestling event hosted bands, wrestlers and fans. The event bolstered support for the Crescenta Valley family's foundation, Drew's Voice.  "Like most people in our family I was left asking the question 'What could I have done?' and that then turned into 'What can I do?' The answer to both of those questions is this fundraiser," Alexander said.   Related:  Video: Suicide Victim's Mother Wants to End 'Bullying Epidemic'

The long-awaited bright crosswalk will cross Glenwood Avenue along Foothill Boulevard.

Construction started for a new lighted crosswalk in La Crescenta, at Glenwood Avenue and Foothill Boulevard, making traffic conditions somewhat sluggish near Crescenta Valley High School.  The project is expected for completion, possibly by the second week of May, according to Crescenta Valley Town Council President Cheryl Davis.  The original completion date was scheduled for October, she said.  The lighted crosswalk is expected to make the area safer for students walking from nearby schools, including Crescenta Valley High School, La Crescenta Elementary and Rosemont Middle School.
