Vazken Madenlian is the principal.</p> <p>Many extracurricular activities center around Armenian culture, such as participation in the Armenian Genocide Walkathon, the Armenian History Timeline competition, Armenian General Knowledge competition, and an 8th grade class trip to Armenia.</p> <p>Two after-school athletics programs are offered. One requires students to try out, and accepted team members compete in the Kaham games against other Armenian schools. The other is an intramural program open to all grades where no tryouts are required.</p> <p>An entrance exam is required for new students entering the school in 3rd through 8th grade.</p>

It is part of the Glendale Unified School District. Dr. Michele Doll is the principal. In 2008, 63% of CVHS graduates completed coursework that would gain them acceptance into the University of California and California State University systems. On average, CVHS teachers have 13 years of experience.</p> <p>In addition to the standard academic curriculum, CVHS offers AP, Honor and ESL classes. The school also has a variety of programs that ready students for the working world, including Vocational-Technical Training, Regional Occupational Program and Work Experience. There is also a Community Service Program.</p>

In addition to standard subjects, performing arts, visual arts, computer lab and P.E. are offered.</p> <p>Mountain Avenue students had an above-average performance on California Standards Tests during the 2008-2009 school year when compared to all of the students in California. 87 percent of students performed proficiently or higher in English and language arts, 85 percent of students performed proficiently or higher in math, and 88 percent of students performed proficiently or higher in science.</p> <p>Mountain Avenue teachers have an average of 16 years teaching experience.</p> <p>Mountain Avenue Committed to Kids (M.A.C.K) is a nonprofit organization that raises money to support students at Mountain View. There is also an active PTA.</p>
