St. Francis Rides Strong into State Championship

The following article was written by St. Francis High School Cycling Coach Lee Bird. Bird coaches several Montrose-La Crescenta students.  The St. Francis High School mountain bike team competed in the fifth and final regular season event of the SoCal league series at Lake Arrowhead, CA earlier this month. Once again, the Golden Knights rose to the challenge and finished strong in this race, and overall for the season. The Lake Arrowhead course turned out to be very dry and dusty, unlike the muddy course that the riders faced last year. Besides the altitude and dust, the riders faced a tough 1.2 mile long fire road climb at the end …

Video: Suicide Victim's Mother Wants to End 'Bullying Epidemic'

Drew Ferraro's mother Deana and aunt Sarah Ferraro make a public plea to help end bullying in schools following Drew's suicide on Feb. 10 at Crescenta Valley High School.

Family and friends remembered suicide victim Drew Ferraro Saturday at the Drew's Voice Wrestling Match fundraiser in San Bernardino.  Drew, 15, took his own life by taking a running jump from the third story at Crescenta Valley High School on Feb. 10.  His parents began a foundation in his name, Drew's Voice, which aims to end bullying. Drew's parents said that following Drew's suicide they found evidence of bullying in his journals.  Glendale Unified School District officials have not opened the investigation to the public and Los Angeles County Sheriff's Homicide investigators maintain they did not find evidence of bullying in the four suicide notes Drew left. Drew's mother Deana Ferraro and aunt Sarah Ferraro were at the Saturday event …
