Anti-Stadium Violence Measure Passes Assembly

Authored by Montrose-La Crescenta Assembly Rep. Mike Gatto, the bill would require California major league teams to post contact numbers for stadium security.

Assembly Bill 2464, the Improving Personal Safety at Stadiums Act, passed the Assembly, Thursday, by a unanimous 71-0 vote. Authored by Montrose Assembly representative Mike Gatto, the bill was inspired by increased fan violence at pro stadiums, including the Bryan Stow beating last March at Dodger Stadium. The bill requires major league stadiums in California to post numbers for calls or texts to contact stadium security about fan violence. The signs must be visible from the stands and in parking lots.  In a press release Gatto says it is security--not police--who is best poised to put down violent incidents, since security is inside the stadium. Like the beating of Giants fan Bryan Stow, the incidents often occur over several minutes and…

Last night, I heard the word “trauma.” I know that word but somehow, I haven’t associated myself to that word until I heard it & thought. “Oh, that was what happened to me & our family.” At church this morning, I can’t help the flowing of tears. These past couple of days, I felt empty, exhausted & I thought I’d cried everything out already. I’m surprised …

Tiffany, do you even take a moment to read what you write before you hit "submit"? At first you tell another poster to "STFU" over their comment, then you come back with "Don't tell me what I can and can not say. If you don't like what I put then don't read it and don't coment." when you are called out on your comment Now, I'd like to know if you understand the concepts of hypocrisy or irony or …   more ›

Southern California Gas Co. customers should watch out for a scammer who requests Social Security numbers over the phone by claiming President Barack Obama will offer credit or payment on bills.

Southern California Gas Co. warned its customers Tuesday about a scam in which the culprits tell victims they can get credits on their utility bills if they provide information such as a Social Security number. According to the gas company, scammers have visited customers in person, used social media sites and even sent text messages to victims claiming that President Barack Obama is offering a program of bill credits or direct payment of bills. Gas Co. officials said workers for the utility always carry proper identification when visiting customers, and they do not randomly call or text customers asking for Social Security numbers or other personal information. Customers should verify a person's employment before allowing anyone into …
