You're Invited to Celebrate Montrose's Best Folks, Organizations

Montrose-Verdugo City Chamber of Commerce invites locals to honor fellow community members, local businesses, organizations and officials who enhance the Montrose-La Crescenta area.

An awards event will be held on Thursday, Jan. 26 at Angeles National Golf Club to honor the people who best served Montrose-La Crescenta in 2011 and welcome new board members to the Montrose-Verdugo City Chamber of Commerce. 

Honorees include several locals, businesses and organizations who worked year-round to provide resources to the community, said Melinda Clarke, Executive Director of Montrose-Verdugo City Chamber of Commerce. 

Glendale Mayor Laura Friedman, Sheriff's Capt. Dave Silversparre, Glendale Police Chief Ronald De Pompa, retiring north-area command Glendale Police Lt. Ian Grimes and new area Lt. Scott Bickle are confirmed guests, Clarke said.

Business of the Year: Giuseppe's Pizzeria

Organization of the Year: Crescenta Valley Drug & Alcohol Prevention Coalition

Business Person of the Year: Henry Baeza of

Educator of the Year: Michelle Doll, Principal

Volunteer of the Year: Robbyn Battles of

Peace Officer of the Year: Retiring Glendale Police Lt. Ian Grimes

Frank Roberts Award: Mary O'Keefe of Prom Plus, CVDAPC and the Firehouse

Oktoberfest Volunteer: Chris Waldheim of

Beautification:

Community Endearment: Harriet Hammonds of Los Angeles Unified School District

Community Enhancement: Owners Bradley Howard, Cynthia Howard and Ted J. Green of

In the Line of Duty: Sheriff's Deputy J.R. Ruiz will receive this first time award for his work to help . Ruiz drove his car in front of car heading 50 mph and saved the driver or anyone else from injury. Ruiz walked away with just a bumper scratch. 

The Montrose-Verdugo City Chamber of Commerce Awards Installation will be held on Thursday, Jan. 26 at 6 p.m. at Angeles National Golf Club, 9401 Foothill Blvd., Sunland. Tickets are $50 per person and the attire is semi-formal. To attend, call (818) 249-7171 or visit Montrosechamber.org.

Did it fit well or was it a little loose? Running makes the arms swing. Strange as it may seem, it may still be in or on your own property. There are still honest people, call the desk of every business you went to. Also, call every pawn shop in your area and report. Good luck.
