The 8-acres of open space land at the Rosemont Preserve will be guarded and nurtured in its natural state forevermore.
With the generosity of the previous owners, Terry Villanueva and her son Justin Whalin, and the efforts of the Arroyo & Foothills Conservancy and La Crescenta Trails Committee with the aid of County Supervisor Michael Antonovich, the trails will be open to the public.
Ultimately, with the help of private donations within the community, the AFC was able to reach its ultimate goal of $450,000, and preserve this hallowed land and its many native species indefinitely.
To celebrate the momentous achievement, the AFC kicked off the day early at 8:30 a.m. Saturday with volunteer habitat restoration, followed by docent led tours of the land, and a celebratory ceremony Saturday afternoon.
