Video: Local Shares Joy of Reading at Montrose Bookstore

Once Upon a Time in Montrose is known as the oldest children's bookstore in the U.S. Jessica Palacios, whose family owns the store, shares her passion for reading at her family's independent, small business.

Jessica Palacios was an eight-year-old when she wrote a letter in The Glendale News-Press, asking to help save in Montrose. 

Once Upon a Time is the oldest children's bookstore in the U.S. and is now owned by the Palacios family at 2207 Honolulu Ave.

Today, Jessica has the chance to teach kids why reading matters and share her favorite tales.

"I want them to see that it's fun, that it's not something that is tedious, that you have to do," Jessica told ABC7. "There's joy and imagination."
