The La Cañada Spartans girls golf team shocked the valley this fall when it finished its first-ever regular season with a perfect 13-0 record. The Spartans were led by sophomore Jennifer Kim, who quickly emerged as her team's best player and one of the better golfers in the area. Kim made history the year before as a freshman on the La Cañada co-ed team when she became the first female to play in the Rio Hondo League championships. This season she stepped up her game and shaved about five strokes off of her 18-hole scoring average. Kim averaged an 82 in 2009 and improved to a 77.2 this past fall.
