Swimming: Falcons Finish 3rd in D2 Finals

Crescenta Valley sophomore Young Tae Seo set two new meet records Saturday.

The Crescenta Valley boys swim team finished one point behind Murrieta Valley to finish in third place in the CIF-Southern Section Division 2 swimming finals Saturday at the Belmont Plaza Pool in Longbeach.

El Segundo finished took the title with 236 points, Murrieta Valley finished and second with 218 and Crescenta Valley followed in third at 217.

The Falcons were paced by sophomore Young Tae So, who earned three meet records in his three first place finishes (one relay and two individual races).

200-yard medley relay team of Harrison Thai, Andrew De Jong, Young Tae Seo and Louis Wojciechowski set a meet record with a time of 1:33.79.

Tae Seo then set two new meet records in winning individual events as he swam 200 individual medley in a time of 1:48.38 and the 100 breaststroke in 55.81.

Wojciechowski finished first in the 100 butterfly (49.72) and finished second in the 200 freestyle (1:39.14).

Thai earned a second place finish in the 200 medley (1:51.07) and a third place finish in the 100 backstroke (50.71).

The 200 medley was the Falcons' top race of the day as Tae So and Thai took first and second in the race.

The Falcon boys 400 free relay team finished in second behind El Seguno by only .13 seconds as the team of Josh Chi, Wojceichowski, Thai and Tae So swam the race in 3:06.59.

The Crescenta Valley girls team finished 30th in the team rankings with 25 points.
