CVHS Sports Notebook: Softball Readies For High Desert Tournament
Falcons look to claim their second straight tournament title.
Falcon fans will have to wait one more week before their teams start up Pacific League play, but there are still plenty of non-league games to catch. Let’s take a closer look.
Softball
The softball team is quickly establishing itself as one of the best squads in the area. On Saturday, the Falcons cruised to an 8-1 victory over Temple City, giving them a 4-0 start to the year and the Duarte Tournament title.

This weekend, the Falcons will be partaking in the High Desert Tournament for their final tune up before league play. Their first game of the tournament is against Serrano on Friday at 3 p.m.
“Our league play doesn’t start for another couple weeks so this tournament will be a great tool for me to see where we are,” Crescenta Valley coach Dan Berry said. “But first things first we have to win against Serrano. We can’t win the tournament if we don’t win the first game.”

Baseball
After losing its season opener against Claremont, the Crescenta Valley baseball team has rolled off three straight victories, the last one being an 11-3 drubbing of Glendora in the final game of the Glendora Tournament. In four games this year, Crescenta Valley has allowed just six runs. The Falcons play a doubleheader on Wednesday against Monrovia before starting league play next week.
Boys Volleyball
After playing a blistering nine games in just four days, the boys volleyball had a quiet week, with just one game last Wednesday. After San Marino, took the first set 28-26, the Falcons stormed back winning the next three en route to a 3-1 win.
The Falcons will now have two more non-league games before they jump into conference play next week. First they will travel to Hart to take on the Indians at 5 p.m. on Wednesday. After that, they will play host to Temple City on Friday at 7 p.m.
