Crescenta Valley's Elliot Surrey Commits to UC Irvine

Surrey went 6-1 with a 1.06 ERA last season for the Falcons.

There weren't many pitching combinations better than 's junior duo of Elliot Surrey and Kyle Murray.

Surrey and Murray led the Falcons to a 13-2 record in the Pacific League during the 2010 season and a trip to the CIF-Southern Section Division 2 playoffs. Surrey went 6-1 with a 1.06 ERA for the Falcons last year, while Murray struck out 70 batters and went 5-1 with a 1.15 ERA in 48 2/3 innings.

While Surrey and Murray still have one more year at CV, both have committed to play at two local powerhouses in 2012.

According to the a report in the Los Angeles Times, Surrey committed to UC Irvine over the weekend becoming the second Falcon to commit to a school this month. Murray committed to Cal State Fullerton earlier in the month.

UC Irvine made the NCAA Men's College World Series for the first time in 2007, and the Anteaters have been one of the top programs in the nation since their run to Omaha, Neb.

Cal State Fullerton has won four national championships in its history, the most recent of which coming in 2004. In addition to their four championship season, the Titans have advanced to 16 College World Series.
