Super Kids Launch Balloon to Space
Sending a balloon into outer space was no big feat for these students.
It was just another assignment for these students.
The task: launching a balloon into space. For these students of Clark Magnet High School, it was as close to space as they could ever get.
The students, along with help from teacher David Black, launched the balloon 85,000 feet above the Angeles National Forest, Sunday, to collect photos and other data from high above.
Launched from Soledad Canyon Road in Acton, took 500 photos during its flight and landed near Angeles Forest Road and upper Big Tujunga Canyon Road, according to the Glendale News Press.
Black said:
"When we watched the balloon go, we hoped for the best, but really had no idea if we'd ever see it again. It's amazing that we were able to recover it."
