Crescenta Valley Town Council Meeting 3/21

Missed the latest Crescenta Valley Town Council meeting? Don't worry; we've got you covered. Here are the highlights:

  • The Town Council Scholarship Chair, David Ford of California Edison, presented the Scholarship Committee with a check for $500. Ford hopes to bring forth the Vehicle initiative for electric cars.
  • Arick Gevorkian, chairman of the Armenian Cultural Foundation, announced that April 24 would be the official day for the Remembrance of Armenian Genocide Proclamation.
  • 10 Middle School students were honored with Certificates of Achievement for completing the 2011 L.A Marathon on March 20.
  • First Responder Reports for March indicated increases security at local for traffic. April is Distracted Driver Month.
  • On the evening of May 18 at 5 p.m., there will be a fundraiser for the Special Olympics when the CHP teams up at the Yardhouse in Old Town Pasadena.
  • LA Sheriff Deputy Jorge Valdivia announced the criminal stats for March: Murder-0, Rape-0, Assault-1, Burglaries-9, Larceny/Theft-10, Vandalism-13, Narcotic arrests-5. Deputy Valdivia encourages parents to ask their kids to leave expensive electronic equipment at home in order to avoid more thefts.
  • The Sheriff's Memorial Project is underway and will be set up on the front lawn of the . Construction will begin in May or June and Lisa Dutton and Steve Pierce are still looking for more donations in order to obtain their goal of raising $20,000.

Coming Up:

  • Relay for Life benefiting the American Cancer Society will take place at on May 14 at 9 a.m. On April 30, a rummage sale to raise funds for the race will be at . All proceeds benefit Relay for Life.
  • Prescription Drop-off on Saturday April 30 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Turn in your unused or expired medication for safe disposal. Prescription Drop-off is a Drug Enforcement Agency collaboration with the CV Drug and Alcohol Prevention Coalition. Please keep medications out of the environment (Don't Flush) and out of the hands of children (Don't Stash). Bring unused, unwanted or outdated medicines to (2037 Verdugo Blvd) or the CV (4554 Briggs Ave).
  • The Taste of Montrose benefiting Prom Plus will take place on Honolulu Avenue on May 1 from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. Tickets are $20 and can be bought in advance at Crescenta Valley High or Ice Cream.
  • CV Community Information Seminar at Rosemont – Sat. May 7 8:30 a.m. – 12 p.m.
  • Tri-Chamber Mixer to celebrate the 100th Anniversary – Wed. May 4 at 6 p.m.
  • “Local Senior Discounts and Services” at Community Room – Thurs. April 28 at 4:30 p.m.
