Who Is the Montrose or La Crescenta Person of the Year?

TIME magazine named President Barack Obama their person of the year. Tell us who you think should win from our town!

On Dec. 19, Time magazine named President Barack Obama as their Person of the Year.

“For finding and forging a new majority, for turning weakness into opportunity and for seeking, amid great adversity, to create a more perfect union, Barack Obama is TIME's 2012 Person of the Year,” Time managing editor Richard Stengel explained in his note to readers.

The magazine invited votes on 40 candidates, including Obama, Gabby Douglas and Kim Jong Un. Other options included The Mars Rover and the Higgs Boson Particle.

But who cares about the same-old, same-old? Who is Montrose or La Crescenta's Person of the Year—the man or woman who, in Timespeak, “most influenced the news this year for better or worse?”

Tell us your nomination in the comments section below!

Mr. Glenbearian AKA Meat Ball. He received more news coverage by ground and air than anyone else in the Montrose-La Crescenta-La Canada-Glendale area (Patch)

@Michael - Thank you for nominating a human! I appreciate it. I think Cheryl is awesome, but why do you think she is person of the year? Her work with CV Town Council, student scholarships, the dog park or any other projects? Thanks again for commenting!

Chris Waldheim of J's Maintenance. He does so much for the community such as Relay for Life, helping with the Montrose Christmas Parade, just to name a few.

Steve Pierce- He picks up trash in MSP, takes care of the War Memorial and a variety of other tasks that are above and beyond his responsibilities.

The person of the year should be that person who convinces this patch to not only refuse any further gun comments, but erase the ones that have already been made. Already, the patch has taken steps to make things better...now, finish the job.

CHRIS AND STEVE ARE WORTHY NOMINEES. HOWEVER I WOULD LIKE TO NOMINATE MIKE LAWLER WHO IS THE RETIRING PRESIDENT OF THE HISTORICAL SOCIETY OF CRESCENTA VALLEY. MIKE HAS WORKED MANY HARD AND LONG HOURS WITH NO OR LITTLE RECOGNITION. HE HAS WORKED ON MOUNTAIN TRAILS, HELPED MAINTAINN ROCKHAVEN, WAS THE MAIN INSPIRATION FOR THE FLOOD VICTIMS MEMORIAL, LED HISTORICAL TOURS AND, MOST IMPORTANTLY, HAS CHRONICLED OUR LOCAL HISTORY VERIFYING THE FACTS AND HAS AUTHORED OR CO-AUTHORED SEVERAL MOST INTERESTING BOOKS ABOUT LA CRESCENTA AND THE SURROUNDING AREA. MIKE LAWLER SHOULD BE THE LA CRESCENTAN OF THE YEAR!!

I should have included Cheryl as a worthy nominee in my earlier post. Apologies to Cheryl.

Cheryl's work to create the dog park, her participation with the Town Council and I think she is a trained CERT volunteer; things that bring little or no monetary rewards, but are done entirely for the benefit of her neighbors.

BTW, per electronic etiquette; all caps is considered yelling. Why are you yelling?

Michael Forgot to punch cn cap lock to undo it. Poor vision, also..b

It seems unfair to choose only one person, when a number of people deserve it. But, if that is not possible, I cast my vote for Cheryl...I may have to rent in Montrose to be a voting member.

Re writing in caps. Who decided that caps is shouting and what power do they hold to make it mandatory. Caps are easier to read for older folks. Amazing how upset people get over this..
