Welcome to La Crescenta Sign Completed

After about five years in the works, the welcome sign was placed next to the 2010 Arbor Day Tree, dedicated to the late Charles Bausback and the Pioneers of the Crescenta Valley.

Led by local leaders Steve Pierce and Carl Christianson, a group of La Crescenta and Montrose residents installed the '"Welcome to La Crescenta" sign last Friday on the property, at Encinal and Pennsylvania avenues.

The sign is next to the Crescenta Valley Town Council's 2010 Arbor Day Tree, a pistachio dedicated to Charles Bausback and the Pioneers of the Crescenta Valley, told Patch.

Bausback died earlier this year, Davis said.

"Steve Pierce has been the one that has kept on this project, even though he's not on [town] council," Davis said. "He saw it through to completion after at least three, maybe more like five years."

Local Mike Bradley donated his time and materials to make the rock base and Carl Christianson created the sign, Davis said.
