Video: Schiff Says U.S. Prevented Recent Al Qaeda Terror Plot

Reports emerge that the CIA stopped a bomb meant to explode in a U.S. bound plane. Officials believe Al Qaeda attempted an attack near the anniversary of Osama Bin Laden's death.

Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Burbank), a senior Member of the House Intelligence Committee, explains how U.S. officials helped to stop an Al Qaeda terror plot on a U.S.-bound plane.

In an interview with MSNBC's Jansing and Company, Schiff explains how the CIA thwarted a recent Yemen-based terror attempt, although he did not reveal about the suspect or arrest.

"That’s not something I’m allowed to comment on, unfortunately. This is the perils of being on the intelligence committee. I can only comment on what's been made public," Schiff said.

Information was leaked to the public about the attack plan, Schiff said.

"Well, that the plot has been foiled. We have the bomb in our possession and the public was never at risk from this device. So that's about as far as I’m allowed to go," Schiff said.

Schiff has called for an investigation into potential classified and sensitive information related to the terrorist plot.

“Our men and women in the Intelligence community did a great job disrupting this terror plot before Americans were put at risk. The plot’s disclosure and further leaks raise troubling questions and potentially jeopardize the work of our intelligence agencies.

“While it’s important that the public be aware of the dangers we face from al Qaeda, it is also critical that intelligence efforts not be needlessly and destructively compromised. The leaks should be investigated,” Schiff said.
