Prom Night Killer's Parole Denied by Gov. Jerry Brown

For the second time in four months, Gov. Jerry Brown reversed a state board's decision to set parole for Paul Crowder, a La Crescenta man who was found guilty of shooting and killing 17-year-old Berlyn Cosman in 1991 in an after-prom party in Anaheim.

Gov. Jerry Brown reversed a state board's decision to grant Paul Crowder parole, according to the Orange County Register. 

Brown had and again on March 16, the Register reported. 

Brown believes that Crowder, now 39, presents a danger to society and has not accepted responsibility for his actions on June 21, 1991, according to the Register.

Crowder is serving a 15-years-to-life term for the second-degree murder of Beryln Cosman during an after-prom party in Anaheim, according to the Register. Cosman was a straight-A student who had earned a college basketball scholarship. 

Brown wrote in his reversal that Crowder has been involved in transporting drugs and gang communication in prison, according to Mercury News.

Crowder was also granted parole in 2010 but Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger reversed the decision, Mercury News reported.
