Poll: Should Glendale Officials Add a Bike Lane?

Glendale City Council requested other 'road diet' locations in Glendale. Members asked for traffic information, the community's reaction and data about how many bicyclists roll through the area for a meeting on Jan. 31.

Glendale City Council voted against a , between Verdugo Road and Montrose Avenue, according to the Glendale News-Press

The proposed 1.6-mile stretch of land could have been Glendale's first dedicated bike lanes, the News-Press reported. 

A road diet narrows or eliminates travel lanes to make way for bicyclists or pedestrians.

“Whatever we do as our first ‘road diet’ has got to be a success,” said Mayor Laura Friedman. “It’s really important that we pick that first road really, really well…. I really want to come out of those four months and have people be neutral, but not furious.”

Council members requested other 'road diet' locations for a Jan. 31 meeting, including community input and data about bicycling in the area.
