Meetings to be Held on Sports Field, Trail Projects in Hahamongna

The public will have a chance to give input on a plan to put a sports field in an open space area in the Hahamongna Watershed Park.

The City of Pasadena will hold a series of meetings on plans to add a sports field and trail to the nearby Hahamongna Watershed Park in June and July.

The projects have been criticized in the past for eating into open space areas in the park - the sports field was approved by the Pasadena City Council at a contentious meeting in 2010 where many people spoke out against it.  The Council decided at that time to scale back the original plan, which included two sports fields.

The meetings will include an informational session on June 27, and two scoping meetings in July, which are state-required meetings to be held as part of the environmental planning process for the project.

The project is separate from the , though Pasadena is considering using sediment from the dam to help fill in the sports field area.

So far, plans of the upcoming project including details on the trail and field and when they will be built are not posted on the Pasadena city website.

Though the park is immediately adjacent to La Canada Flintridge on the westside and Altadena on the eastside, the City of Pasadena owns the bulk of the land in the park.

The meeting dates are as follows:
