A Glendale Water and Power impersonator walked into a Glendale home and stole several items launching a warning from GWP officials that employees never go inside a house.

A man pretending to be a GWP employee knocked on a woman’s door Tuesday in the 1400 block of East Wilson and said he needed to check the water quality, according to Atineh Haroutunian of Glendale Water and Power. When the woman asked for his identification he said that it was in his car.

The suspect went into the kitchen, turned on the faucet and said that recent rain brought a quality issue. He asked the customer to stay in the kitchen for five minutes. He said that when the five minutes were over to then turn the water off while he was outside checking on things.

Glendale Water and Power tell customers that water quality is not checked inside a home and staff never makes an unscheduled visit. If a water quality test does need to happen, it will be done outside of the home on the hose bib.
