Drayman Reveals Mohill's Criminal Past in Scathing City Council Meeting Tuesday Night

In the most 'appalling disgusting campaign' Drayman has ever witnessed, mud slinging reaches a new level.

At Tuesday night's Glendale City Council meeting, Councilman John Drayman dropped a bomb on Mike Mohill when he revealed that Mohill has been arrested and convicted of three crimes, including trespassing and two counts of soliciting lewd acts in a public place.

Two and a half hours into the meeting, Mohill addressed the council regarding what he sees as the necessity of stricter campaign contribution limits, more public disclosure and an independent city attorney, all in an effort to "restore the public trust."

After Mohill issued these concerns, Drayman took the mic and solemnly addressed chambers. "This," he said, "is the most appalling, disgusting city council campaign I have ever seen. The reason it's different is [because] it's not about issues ... at least for one candidate ... it's about slander, it's about libel, and it's about, as [Mohill] puts it, ethics, right? Character, right?"

In the name of character, then, Drayman saw fit to expose Mohill's past: in December of 2006, Mohill was arrested and convicted of trespassing when he chopped off an overhanging limb from his neighbor's yard (Drayman referred to this as Mohill "hacking up a protected Oak tree"), and futhermore, in 1987 and again in 1988, Mohill was arrested and convicted of "soliciting lewd acts in a public place."

Patch reporter Joe Taglieri was on the scene and reported that during Drayman's diatribe, Mohill shrugged and slouched while, by turns, glaring and then avoiding Drayman's stare. Mohill finally got up and walked out of the meeting toward the end of Drayman's rant.

After this brief but intense exhange, the meeting commenced a short time later. The ramifications of these revelations will likely unfold over the next few days. View footage of the meeting here; the Mohill/Drayman incident occurs two hours and twenty-seven minutes into the footage.

Stay with Patch for continued coverage of the campaign trials and tribulations. Taglieri is slated to sit down with Drayman later this week as the councilman addresses Mohill's own allegations against Drayman.
