CV Water District Could Boost Rates for Locals

A proposed fee hike for the 8,275 resident customers will be discussed at a public hearing scheduled for Nov. 1.

The 8,275 customers could face a water bill rate hike if a proposed rate increase passes. 

Residents will receive a notice for a public hearing to discuss a proposed rate increase, said Christy Scott, Crescenta Valley Water District Program Specialist.

The mailer should reach residents by Sept. 18 and the hearing will be scheduled Nov. 1.  at 6:30 p.m. at the Crescenta Valley Water District.

Proposition 218 lets voters approve how purpose taxes, such as hotel, business license and utility user taxes, are used, according to a report issued by the California Legislative Analyst’s Office.

The proposition “seeks to curb some perceived abuses in the use of assessments and property-related fees, specifically the use of these revenue-raising tools to pay for general governmental services rather than property-related services,” the report cites.
