'Clean & Green Committee' To Spruce Up La Crescenta

Officials hope for this event to be a yearly effort.

The Clean & Green Committee has its sights set on beautifying the streets of La Crescenta-Montrose and is bringing back an event to do just that.

The committee is hosting the Annual Foothill Blvd. Spring Clean-Up, set for Saturday, May 18. The event is meant to be a vehicle for residents in the unincorporated areas of La Crescenta-Montrose to take pride in their community and keep if free of liter.

The clean up event was originally started in 2010 after the Clean & Green Committee formed, but did not meet again—that is until this year. The event will now become a yearly opportunity to help keep the area clean, said Marti Marshall, councilmember alternate for the Crescenta Valley Town Council.

The idea to clean up neighborhoods became a popular idea after Marshall had Richard Stewart, of the Sunland-Tujunga Neighborhood Council, present his Belly Buster Club to the CVTC.

"Keeping our community clean and connecting with other community members is important. It brings out the unity in the community," Marshall said.

There is no age limit for those interested in joining Clean & Green Committee activities.

The event begins at 9 a.m. at St. Lukes of the Mountains, 2563 Foothill Blvd. Food and drinks will be provided.

PHAT Energy will also be holding an E-Waste collection event at their offices, 2715 Foothill Blvd.

For more information, call Marti Marshall at (818) 454-7345.
