New spending was approved in next year's budget by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday.
The $24.53 billion budget reportedly will not require county staff to take furlough days and keeps funding for most county departments intact, according to the San Gabriel Valley Tribune.
Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas said, "The county is in a unique budgetary position because of the extraordinary fiscal prudence exercised by the board over a period of decades."
About $180 million more in spending was approved in a budget, that seeks to close a $75 million shortfall.
