Sheriff's Department: La Crescenta a Target in Possible Burglary Ring

The Sheriff's Department has stepped up its patrols in the Crescenta Valley station jurisdiction.

The Sheriff's Department Crescenta Valley Station has beefed up its patrols in response to a recent string of burglaries in the La Crescenta area.

Several of the burglaries have followed a similar pattern.

"[The suspects] are knocking on doors, and if there's no one home, they break into the house," Sgt. Robert Galbraith told Patch. "It's nothing high-tech."

Detectives say they are still working to compile a more detailed suspect description, but believe a team of two men and a woman are responsible for most of the burglaries.

The department has taken an "aggressive" and "proactive"  approach to preventing further break-ins, Galbraith said.

For every shift, the Sheriff's Department has put five to six extra deputies on patrol in the Crescenta Valley Station territory. Also, the department is working closely with other local law enforcement agencies, as the burglars may be hitting nearby areas as well, Galbraith said.

In the meantime, residents are encouraged to lock their doors and call the Crescenta Valley Station at 818-248-3464 to report any suspicious activities.
