UPDATE: Authorities now confirm that the body found near a crashed car in Angeles National Forest belongs to missing 19-year-old Sarah Alarid, according to KPCC.
Authorities discovered a vehicle in a ravine off Angeles National Forest and a body near it, NBC4 reports.
The car found Wednesday off an Angeles National Forest road is reportedly registered to Sarah Alarid, a 19-year-old Canyon Country woman who went missing New Year's Day.
Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department spokesperson Steve Whitmore told NBC4 that investigators made the connection after running a check of the vehicle's license plates Wednesday morning.
Los Angeles County Fire Department and Montrose Search & Rescue Team were called to the location off Sandy Canyon Road.
The vehicle was found near what was initially investigated as a shallow grave discovered earlier Wednesday.
Both directions of Sand Canyon Road at Bear Divide will be closed during the investigation, according to the California Highway Patrol.
