Rescued: Injured Hiker Airlifted to Local Hospital

A male hiker was unconscious, injured, after 100-foot fall from Eaton Canyon trail.

An 18-year-old man fell about 100 feet from a trail in Eaton Canyon on Friday.

His immediate injuries appeared to be compound fractures to the hip; two parametics assisted with the rescue.

The rescue, a collaborative effort between Altadena Search and Rescue and the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Air Rescue 5, airlifted the hiker to a local hospital.

The photo of the rescue at right comes courtesy of Capt. John Benedict of the Altadena Sheriff's Station who tweeted it out Friday afternoon.
