RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY/POSSESSION OF BURGLARY TOOLS

Deputies reported that while en route to a possible trespassing call at the 4800 block of Raymond Avenue in La Crescenta, they were flagged down while traveling eastbound on Los Olivos Lane at approximately 11:30 p.m., Feb. 14.

Upon exiting their vehicle, deputies encountered a 30-year-old male witness who pointed to a male suspect standing in the front yard of a residence.  “This guy broke into the house,” the witness stated.

The suspect, 24-year-old male Artur Malicon Bandari of La Crescenta, approached deputies, who brandished their weapons and detained him.  According to the incident report, Bandari told deputies he had been walking around and was being chased, for no reason, by a person waiving a golf club.

Additional sheriff’s units reporting to the original trespassing location notified deputies that the residence had been burglarized, and Bandari was a possible suspect.

According to the report, the witness informed deputies that he saw Bandari toss a bag and gloves. The bag--found to contain a pick gun--and a pair of black gloves were discovered at the location on 2700 block of Los Olivos Lane. The report stated that at the Raymond Avenue residence, a female victim claimed that while in her home she had heard noises coming from her garage. The victim, noting that she felt afraid, called a friend who then called police but also sent her husband and son over to the residence. The victim stayed in a room and did not come out until the police arrived. The husband and son reported that while on their way to the victim’s home they encountered two men who appeared suspicious standing on the sidewalk near the location.

The son got out of the car to confront the men and noted that he saw a small refrigerator on the ground between them. The suspects ran, and the witness states that he grabbed a golf club from his car and gave chase. This witness then flagged down passing deputies.

The victim reported that the only thing missing from her garage was a wine refrigerator containing 16 bottles of wine with an estimated value of $1,200 total. In the area of the Raymond Avenue location, an additional set of black gloves and a tool belt were recovered by deputies. Bandari was charged with burglary and possession of burglary tools.
