Parolee Escapes Glendale Police After Car Chase Ends in La Canada

Police were unable to locate the man after he fled on foot following a car chase. Authorities believe the parolee had been casing homes in Chevy Chase Canyon.

UPDATE 3:30 p.m. Glendale Police know the identity of the burglary suspect who led them on a pursuit Tuesday -- he's a male on parole for burglary who had been living with his La Cañada parents, Glendale Police Sgt. Tom Lorenz said.

Authorities had been patrolling a Glendale neighborhood rife with burglaries when they spotted a suspicious vehicle. It appeared the driver was casing the area of Chevy Chase Canyon and Emerald Isle, he said. After officers attempted to pull over the vehicle, and the driver took off, police chased the car to the 1100 bock of Descanso Drive, where the suspect's parents live.

"We found burglary tools inside his vehicle; it appears he was casing the area,'' Lorenz said, pointing out that the man is in the Post-Release (County Level) Community Supervision program. The PRCS  is part of Governor Jerry Brown's public safety realignment plan.

Authorities searched the family's home and are currently looking for the suspect, he said.

UPDATE 2:45 p.m. Police tore down the perimeter, which had been set up on Cornishon Avenue at Descanso Drive, without catching the suspect, said Sgt. Paul Gallo of Crescenta Valley Sheriff's Station. Glendale Police are investigating, he added.

Jeremy Hardy of Craig Estates told Patch that from his Foothill Boulevard office he heard what sounded like a gunshot. The sound stood out from the hours of thumping helicopter noise.

Lorenz said there were no reports of gunshots in connection with the police chase. Gallo also said he knew nothing about a gunshot.

Earlier: Glendale police today chased a burglary suspect to the La Canada Flintridge area, where the man got out of his vehicle and ran.

Plainclothes officers were investigating a burglary in a Glendale neighborhood about 11:45 a.m. when they tried to detain the man, but he drove away, leading police to an area near Chevy Chase and Descanso drives, said Glendale police Sgt. Tom Lorenz.

The man remained at large about 90 minutes afterward, and police set up a perimeter in the hilly area, Lorenz said.

I can well empathsize with your loss. First thing, can you remember taking it off anywhere? DidRead More you wash your hands anywhere, soap makes fingers slippery. Did it fit well or was it a little loose? Running makes the arms swing. Strange as it may seem, it may still be in or on your own property. There are still honest people, call the desk of every business you went to. Also, call every pawn shop in your area and report. Good luck. If its any comfort, I found a diamond studded tie tack when I gazed at the soil in my garden and saw it. Keep us posted. b
