Parking Restrictions Lifted in La Crescenta

L.A. County Department of Public Works crews still cleaning out debris basins.

Final evacuation orders and parking restrictions were lifted at 8 a.m. for the residents of La Crescenta and La Cañada Flintridge, according to the Los Angeles County Department of Public Works and Lt. Bill Weiss of the

DPW warns residents that trucks could still be rolling around the area as scattered crews try to clean out debris basins.

Weiss said there's "nothing right now" that sheriff's deputies need to be worried about, but also mentioned how lucky the area was in evading the big "red cell" of bad weather that had been rolling toward it.

"We're lucky it went down south," he said. "Bad for them, but lucky for us. If we did get hit with that, who knows what would have happened with the saturation? We're just fortunate we didn't get hit with it. But the next storm, whenever it comes, is a whole new game."

DPW also announced the 4 p.m. reopening of Angeles Forest Highway from Aliso Canyon Road to Angeles Crest Highway, along with Big Tujunga Canyon Road from the Los Angeles city line to Angeles Forest Highway, and Upper Big Tujunga Canyon Road from Angeles Forest Highway to Angeles Crest Highway.

However, the department has also noted that the Angeles National Forest itself is still closed, and that parking along forest roads could eventually lead to tickets and towing for your vehicle.
