Montrose Search and Rescue Team Locates Hiker Who Spent Night in Angeles National Forest

A 51-year-old man who went on he expected to be a day hike Sunday was rescued by sheriff's search and rescue team Monday after spending the night in the Angeles National Forest.

He went hiking in the Arroyo Seco Canyon, just east of the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, and got lost, according to Deputy Alexia Jones.

The hiker, who made a telephone call to a co-worker from a ridge at 8:53 a.m. today and told him where he parked his car, was found by members of the Montrose Search and Rescue Team who set out from the parking lot, she said.

Members of a search team later spotted the man and send it several people to guide him back to his car, Jones said.
