Local rescuers found a man who apparently swallowed drain cleaner and was heard moaning in pain on a Angeles National Forest hillside, officials said.
The Montrose Search and Rescue Team responded to the Lopez Canyon Area in the nearby Sylmar area for an adult man Thursday afternoon and did not locate him until dark, about 11 p.m., according to Sheriff's Lt. Elizabeth Sachs.
The Los Angeles County Fire Department determined he had swallowed drain cleaner, she said.
He was transported via ambulance to a local hospital for treatment and evaluation.

When I visited the Crescenta Valley Sheriff's Station in La Crescenta in August 2011, Capt. Silversparre showed me a map of the area that sheriff's deputies patrol from our station. The area that the Montrose Search & Rescue Team responds to include parts of the Sylmar area, Angeles National Forest, portions of unincorporated Montrose-La Crescenta and La Canada Flintridge. Lopez Canyon would fall under that jurisdiction, too.
