Officers who will be honored with the memorial include Deputy David A. Horr, who was shot in the line of duty while handling a domestic dispute on Dec. 7, 1957, and later died from his wounds on Feb. 9, 1958, and Reserve Deputy Charles D. Rea, who drowned during rescue efforts in Big Tujunga Canyon floods on Jan. 26, 1969, according to Dutton.

“We hope to keep their memories alive, while at the same time reflecting on what the Sheriffs and volunteers of our Crescenta Valley station do every day to take care of our community,” said Dutton.
