Meet the Crescenta Valley Sheriff's Community Advisory Committee

The Crescenta Valley Sheriff's station has revived a group that accompanies most stations in the county: a Community Advisory Committee made up of members of various other local organizations like the Town Council and Chamber of Commerce.

The committee met for the first time in July and will meet again in October, according to Sgt. Burton Brink of the Crescenta Valley Sheriff's Station.  The group does not meet in public, but rather has an informal private meeting with station leadership, according to Brinks.

The group includes  Pat Anderson from the La Canada Flintridge Chamber of Commerce, Jean Maluccio from the Crescenta Valley Chamber Of Commerce, Julia Rabago, Crescenta Valley Drug & Alcohol Prevention Coalition, Harry Leon from the Crescenta Valley Town Council, and Reverend Beverly Craig, a member of the Crescenta Valley Clergy Council.

The group was selected by department officials, Brink said.

The purpose of the group is to communicate information out to the community from the station

"People don't always want to listen to the police but they will listen to people in the know," Brink said.

There is no official way for community members to communicate with the station leadership through the committee, but Brink reminded Patch that anybody who has any issues or complaints with the station should call the station's watch commander and relay that information to the department.
