A 23-year-old man was struck and killed by two cars Sunday on the Glendale (2) Freeway in Montrose, the California Highway Patrol said.

The CHP was notified of the death on the northbound freeway, just north of Fern Lane overpass, at 5:25 a.m., according to a department statement.

The 23-year-old man was only publicly identified as a resident of La Canada.

He was walking across the freeway when he was struck by a 2003 Honda Accord driven by a 22-year-old man from Sylmar, according to a CHP report.

The impact forced the 23-year-old man up on the windshield of the Honda.

He was then struck by a 2012 Hyundai Elantra.

Paramedics rushed the Honda driver and the pedestrian to Huntington Hospital in Pasadena, where the 23-year-old man died. The motorist in the Honda suffered moderate injures, according to the department.

CHP officers did not disclose if they knew why the 23-year-old man was walking across the eight-lane freeway.
