UPDATE: Barricaded Armed Robbery Suspect in La Crescenta Found Dead

The standoff unfolds in the 2600 block of Foothill Boulevard between Raymond and Rosemont avenues.

UPDATE, 10:00 p.m.:
The armed suspect who holed up in a cellular phone store in La Crescenta has been found dead by a sheriff's SWAT team, sheriff's officials
say. No shots were fired by sheriff's personnel.

UPDATE, 7:40 p.m.:
The barricaded suspect is still speaking with crisis negotiators. The mother of the suspect will reportedly speak with the man, according to Sheriff's broadcast traffic.

UPDATE, 7 p.m.:
Authorities were told by the barricaded suspect that he is armed with two handguns and a knife. Crisis negotiators are still talking with the suspect, attempting to get him to surrender, according to Sheriff's broadcast traffic.

UPDATE, 6:31 p.m.:
According to Sheriff's broadcast traffic, some family members of the barricaded suspect are reportedly on scene at the shopping center where he is holed up. A crisis negotiating team is also speaking on the phone with the suspect.

PREVIOUSLY, 6:27 p.m.: A man, possibly armed, holed up in a cellular phone store in a shopping center in the unincorporated La Crescenta-Montrose area tonight, prompting evacuations of some stores and orders to shelter in place at others.

The possibly-armed suspect barricaded himself at around 4 p.m. at the Verizon Wireless store in the 2600 block of Foothill Boulevard between Raymond and Rosemont avenues, according to a deputy at the sheriff's Crescenta Valley Station.

California Highway Patrol officers and Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies were blocking off traffic in front of the shopping center, and armored sheriff's vehicles and a SWAT team were on the scene, according to broadcast reports.
