A 39-year-old man who was performing at Sakana Japanese Restaurant in La Canada Flintridge took a break outside when an unknown person allgedly shouted “I’m gonna [SIC] punch you in the face,” according to report from the .
The victim stood near the restaurant entrance in the 2383 Foothill Boulevard, near Briggs Avenue, about 8:15 p.m. Sunday, authorities said.
Immediately after the victim heard the threat, he saw an unknown person throw a punch out of his peripheral vision, according to the report.
The victim took a step back to dodge the initial punch when he tripped and fell on his back, officials said. While on his back, the victim was punched about 10 times in the right shoulder and front upper torso.
The victim’s bandmate grabbed the unknown attacker in a bear hug. As soon as the victim could get on his feet, they released the suspect and he walked away.
The victim sustained abrasions to his upper back and went to County-USC Medical Center for treatment.
“[The victim] stated he does not know [the unknown suspect] nor does he know why he attacked,” according to the report.
