Man Killed After Car Plummets Off Road in Angeles National Forest

The crash happens about 2 p.m. near the intersection of Kagel Canyon and Dexter Park roads.

A 21-year-old man was killed and another person seriously injured Saturday when a Camaro went almost 50 feet over the side of a road and overturned in the Kagel Canyon area in the Angeles National Forest east of Sylmar, authorities said.

The crash happened about 2 p.m. near the intersection of Kagel Canyon and Dexter Park roads, according to Los Angeles County Fire Department Capt. Brian Jordan.

Both victims were taken to a hospital, where one was pronounced dead, said Officer Patrick Kimball of the California Highway Patrol, which was conducting the crash investigation.

One of the victims was airlifted from the scene by a sheriff's air rescue helicopter, Jordan said.

The Los Angeles County coroner's office identified the deceased man as Alejandro Perez of Sylmar.
