UPDATE: Man Injured During Monkey Canyon Cliff Jump Identified

A 30-year-old man fractured his foot after leaping into shallow water in Angeles National Forest.

UPDATE: The injured man has been identified as Stephen Perret.

Previously: A 30-year-old man jumped off a cliff into shallow water at Monkey Canyon in Angeles National Forest today and had to be airlifted to a hospital, sheriff's officials said. 

At about 4:25 p.m., a sheriff's search and rescue team from the found the man and rushed him by helicopter to a hospital, Capt. Mike Parker of the Sheriff's Headquarters Bureau told Montrose Patch in an email.

He suffered a fractured foot, Parker said. His name was not immediately available.

Monkey Canyon is a local hike and cliff jump location near Hidden Springs, off Big Tujunga Road.
