La Crescenta Man Reportedly Improving After Beating

Suspect charged with attempted murder in the April 15 attack.

The man who suffered serious injuries after being attacked during an argument outside a Glendale bar over a week ago is improving, police said Wednesday.

The 41-year-old La Crescenta resident received blunt force trauma to the head and face outside Dave's Bar, in the 700 block of East Broadway Avenue. The suspect, a Glendale resident, was arrested and booked on attempted murder charges.

"I understand that he [the victim] suffered head trauma and bruising, but no broken bones. He'll be fine," said Sergeant Tom Lorenz of the Glendale Police Department. It was unclear Wednesday if the victim was still hospitalized.

The argument began inside the bar. The two had a disagreement, but the specifics were not released by Glendale detectives. The argument escalated and moved outside where the beating took place.

The suspect, Donovan Emsworth, 41, was held in lieu of $556,000 bail. He was being held in the North County Correctional Facility in Castaic as of April 18, according to county booking records.
