Rescuers from the Los Angeles County Fire and Sheriff's departments helped a horse and its rider after they fell off a cliff in Angeles National Forest Tuesday.
The horse and rider fell into a ravine above Altadena about 2:40 p.m. and rescuers apparently cut a trail for the animal and walked the horse out of the area, sheriff's officials told Patch.
Rescuers initially attempted a helicopter rescue and to hoist the horse out of the forest but did not have luck, according to a Los Angeles County fire official at the Altadena station.
The horse and its rider fell while on the unpaved Brown Mountainway and El Prieto Mountainway. The rider, whose name was not immediately available, was not injured. The horse's condition was not immediately available.
