Wind gusts reached about 60 mph in La Crescenta and Montrose Wednesday night, knocking down power and slamming trees to the ground.

A National Weather Service expert reported wind gusts up to 60 mph in the hills above Glendale while trees fell.

A tree fell on a home in the 1100 block of Fairview Drive about 11 p.m., according to Dispatch Supervisor Ray Dong of the Los Angeles County Fire Department. It is unclear if anyone was injured.

Power was lost in the area surrounding Foothill Boulevard at Ramsdell Avenue in La Crescenta and on Honolulu Avenue from Ocean View Boulevard to Verdugo Road in Montrose. Alarms are sounding off from local businesses in that immediate area.

Several large pepper trees fell near the entrance of Montrose Shopping Park at Honolulu Avenue and Verdugo Road.
