Poll: Should Local Schools Have Friday Off?

Glendale Unified School District administration will determine whether to open schools on Friday based on overnight wind damage. If school is cancelled, calls will go out no later than 7 a.m. Friday.

Glendale school officials will decide before 7 a.m. Friday whether to keep students in La Crescenta and Montrose classrooms. Officials said all schools will start at 8 a.m., without early morning activities.  

"Automatic calls will go out to all District parents and staff as soon as a decision is reached," told Montrose Patch.

Parents can also check the GUSD website for the morning decision, he said.

"Staff and parents are being alerted tonight to expect the phone calls tomorrow morning," Frasher said.

"If [schools] open, all schools will open at 8 a.m.," he said.

There will be no early morning programs, including preschool, before-school child care or secondary zero period, prior to 8 a.m., Frasher said. 

Six La Crescenta schools operated without electricity Thursday, including and , according to Glendale officials. Five out of the six schools are Southern California Edison customers.

Montrose Community Park had one uprooted Deodar Cedar and at least four broken Liquidambar a few feet above ground, Glendale officials said.
