Glendale Police Report Smashed Windows in La Crescenta, Montrose

There have been 15 window smashing incidents throughout Montrose and La Crescenta since Feb. 11. Police say these incidents have involved someone destroying property with either a BB gun, rock or brick.

A Sparr Heights family had their window smashed Sunday in what police say is one of several destroyed windows in the area of Montrose and La Crescenta.

The first of the window smashing incidents happened Feb. 11 and there have been about 15 incidents following, Glendale Police Lt. Scott Bickle told Patch. Either a BB gun, rock or brick is used to damage the windows in these cases.

"There is no pattern that I can tell, but they are all isolated to Montrose and La Crescenta," Bickle said.

The reported window smashings have spread from Montrose Avenue, Community Avenue, Whiting Woods, Altura Avenue, Sycamore Avenue, Downing Avenue and Fifth Avenue, Bickle said.

No suspects are identified, however, one witness described seeing a late model, light-red Toyota Tercel with three young men, possibly teenagers.

These suspects apparently threw a rock at the car and fled, Bickle said. The victim chased them but lost them without seeing a license plate number.

The full report from the Sparr Heights window smashing is not yet available, Bickle said. The exact damage estimate is not immediately known, however, Bickle expects it to be several thousand dollars.
