Glendale DUI Checkpoint Planned for Friday

Drivers can expect a DUI and license checkpoint somewhere in Glendale. Police haven't disclosed the exact location yet.

Expect to see a Glendale Police Department DUI and driver license checkpoint on Friday, April 13, somewhere in Glendale.

Police haven't released the exact location, but from 8:30 p.m. to 3 a.m. Friday a checkpoint will be conducted.

"Checkpoints are placed in locations that have the greatest opportunity for achieving drunk and drugged driving deterrence and provide the greatest safety for officers and the public," Glendale officials said in a prepared statement.

Officers will talk to drivers and look for signs of alcohol or drug impairment. Authorities will also check that drivers are properly licensed.

Glendale Police Department has investigated 346 DUI-injury related crashes in the past three years, officials said.

The California Office of Traffic Safety funded the checkpoint through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Officials urge you to call 911 and report drunk drivers on the road.
