Freeway Chase Begins in Glendale, ends in Hawthorne

A trio of men stole leather jackets out of a Glendale motorcycle dealership, then triggered a long freeway chase into San Bernardino County and Orange County before ending back in Los Angeles County.

Three men smashed a glass window at a Glendale motorcycle dealership today, stole some leather jackets and led authorities on a freeway chase into San Bernardino County, ending in Hawthorne with a footchase and two arrests, a police sergeant said.

About 6:20 a.m., a resident called police to report that he heard some glass shatter in the 3000 block of North Verdugo Road, said Glendale police Sgt. Dan Suttles.

Arriving officers saw three men putting some leather jackets into a white van. Police tried to pull over the speeding van--which had been reported stolen--near Mountain Avenue and the Glendale (2) Freeway, Suttles said.

The van sped onto the southbound Harbor (110) Freeway, where the California Highway Patrol picked up the chase about 7 a.m., said CHP Officer Ed Jacobs. The van eventually went onto the eastbound Pomona (60) Freeway, going between 60 to 100 miles per hour. The chase reached Rancho Cucamonga, where the van driver went south on the Ontario (15) Freeway to Corona, and then west on the Riverside (91) Freeway into Orange County, Jacobs said.

The chase continued west into Los Angeles on the Artesia (91) Freeway, before going on the northbound Harbor (110) Freeway and west on the Glenn Anderson (105) Freeway. The van crashed a little before 8 a.m. at Hawthorne Boulevard.

The three suspects ran, a perimeter was set up and the first suspect was caught at 8:02 a.m., while a second suspect was collared a short time later, Jacobs said. The perimeter was shut down at 8:51 a.m., when authorities could not find the third man. All three were described as Latino men in their mid-20s.

I feel bad that teachers are having to pull money out of their own pockets, I wonder whateverRead More happened to the lottery money that was supposed to go to schools? I am a volunteer for an organization that offers free drug education kits to any teacher with booklets on the various harmful drugs .
