Fire Department Carries out Helicopter Cliff Rescue in Eaton Canyon

A cliff rescue took place in Eaton Canyon Tuesday morning, according to the Pasadena Star-News.

A hiker was plucked off the side of a cliff by the County Fire Department on Tuesday morning, according to department Inspector Brian Riley.

The rescue was first reported on the Pasadena Star-News website (link below) on Tuesday morning.

A call came in for a hiker stuck on a cliff at 10:45 a.m. and a department helicopter was dispatched to the scene, according to Riley.

The team was able to pull the hiker off the cliff, into the helicopter, and then airlifted him to a nearby school where they had enough room to land and drop the hiker off, Riley said.

The rescue is the second in a 24-hour period:another hiker fell at Eaton Canyon on Monday, though a helicopter was not required for assistance in the case.
