Crime Blotter: Wallet Swiped From Shopping Woman

Wallet Stolen While Shopping

A woman reported that while she shopped at a woman asked her for help reading the calorie count label of a candy bar, about 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 29. As the victim read the information for the suspect, she noted the suspect leaning toward her and her shopping cart before thanking her and moving on. At the check-out, the victim saw that her wallet was missing from her purse, which had been sitting in the cart. The wallet contained about $90 in cash.

The victim drove home and canceled her credit cards but saw that someone withdrew $2,000 using her Visa card at an ATM located in the 2600 block of Foothill Boulevard. 

The suspect is described as a woman with dark brown eyes and black hair, between 5 foot 3 to 5 inches, around 200 pounds.

Church Windows Shot

Some time between 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 30 and 3 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 2, three windows on the south side of the , 4441 La Crescenta Ave., were damaged. Deputies reported that the windows appeared to have been shot at with a pellet gun. Damage was reported at $1,800.

On Sunday, Oct. 2, a rock was thrown through the library window of the , 4441 La Crescenta Ave. The window was completely shattered, and the rock was found on the window’s ledge.

Weekend Home Burglary

A couple returned home at noon, Monday, Nov. 7, after a weekend away to find their home, located in the 2700 block of Alabama Street, ransacked. The husband told deputies that a screen had been removed from a window at the back of the house and a plant normally located in front of that window moved. A television located inside the house in front of the same window had also been moved. The husband told deptuies that despite finding the back door unlocked, he was postive that he had locked the house before leaving for the weekend.

About $2,000 worth of jewelry, various collectible coins valued at $1,000 and $650 in currency were reported stolen.

Glendale police officers reported a burglary in the 3400 block of Encinal Avenue at 3 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 5.

Vandalism was reported at 10:15 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 6, in the 3500 block of Stancrest Drive.

A vehicle was reported stolen in the 2500 block of Honolulu Avenue at 8:11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 7.

Glendale Police reported a burglary in the 2600 block of Piedmont Avenue at 12:15 p.m. Monday, Oct. 7.

Eduardo Sandoval, 24, was arrested at 12:50 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 8, at Broadview Drive and Verdugo Road on suspicion of license violation and suspicion of unlawful carrying of a firearm. Bail was set at $60,000.
